An Arangetram is a time to celebrate all the achievements a student has accomplished throughout their academic years with their guru. I want to start off by congratulating Varunika on this milestone in her life. Committing her time, energy, mind, and heart to studying the classical Indian musical instrument of the Veena since her childhood is an accomplishment in itself. The precision, talent, and mental discipline necessary to develop this art form are truly quite difficult for most people to imagine. However, Varunika has not only managed to master this art, she has displayed her skills with the utmost grace and as a wonderful musician. As her former teacher, I can attest that Varunika’s motivation and drive to do her best is not limited to her skills as a classical instrumentalist, but also as a student in the classroom. Her willingness to listen to her teachers, her ability to take in new lessons, and above all, her constant optimism with her cheerful personality made Varunika an ideal student. Today, Varunika has honoured Mother Saraswati, the Goddess of Knowledge and master of the Veena, through her devotion and perseverance as a student of traditional Indian Music. It is an absolute privilege to be a guest and bless Varunika at her Veena Arangetram and I wish her a lifetime of blessings as she continues to pursue her passion in the Arts and all other endeavors in her life. Congratulations Varunika – You are now the teacher! Ms. Gyetvan and I are very proud of you! ??
